The Storm

Two weeks ago, there were some magnificent storms in the area; and although the sirens were going off like crazy, and we headed to the basement to wait it out, it was hard to resist snapping some photos and video footage of the storm! So, I didn't resist it! :) I took some quick photos/videos here and there, as I ran upstairs to grab yet another load of towels to sop up the water pooling in every window on the north side of our house! It was quite exciting/terrifying, all at the same time. Those moments when, all is said and done (thankfully!), and you're like, "Wow. Thank the Lord we are alive and well! A bit of wet carpet here and there, some trees down, no power for 12 plus hours...but we are WELL!" It kind of adjusts your perspective a bit, or at least should.
It was neat to watch the neighborhood folk come together and help one another, clearing the debris made up of trees, leaves, and branches that littered nearly everyone's yard. Mostly cosmetic damage, I think, but still enough to make each one thankful that it wasn't more than that. And enough to make us thankful for running water, and all of the "little" things that we tend to take for granted...like electricity!
The sky was breathtaking! It was amazing hues of orange, mostly...followed by the most magnificent double rainbow I have ever seen! My camera couldn't nearly do it justice, but you can get the idea! :)
